Our Other Animals
Rainman & Sondown aka "Rainy & Sonny"
I had always dreamed of one day owning donkeys. After acquiring these two boys as foals I can't begin to tell you how blessed I have been! I can spend hours just leaning over the fence watching their antics. They live to play & they love to please.

There is something about the kindness in their eyes and the bond that they are capable of forming with their owner that is more than magical. They have wonderful personalities and form friendships with humans that are beyond belief. They know when to be silly and they know when you are needing to be nuzzled.
Call Ducks
We believe these little white noisemakers are the cutest of all ducks! They are a bantam breed and love to "announce" anything and everything. "Little", as we call him, was raised under a chicken and while hatching out was stuck in his shell.
We had to assist his exit and put his tiny, lifeless body under a heat lamp. He of course "imprinted" on us, we became his "family" and he wants nothing to do with other ducks! He is a very funny man and has alot to say!
Chickens
Nothing is more relaxing than watching a flock of chickens on a warm, sunny summer morning. You may think that law and order or rhyme or reason doesn't exist, but quite contraire!
Chickens are very structured and have a definite pecking order to their existence. Have you ever watched a rooster scratch up a tasty tidbit? The call he uses to signal his hens is as if to say, "Come and see what I have found for you!" How about the warning squawk he gives in alarm when danger is near or flying overhead? Have you ever seen his hens run for cover?
Believe it or not each and every chicken, big or small, black or white, regardless of sex or age has its own unique personality. Some are very friendly and love to be held. Others are more stand-offish. There are also those that love to hang out with you but forbid you from ruffling a feather! Regardless of their differences, a nice hot cup of coffee on these peaceful mornings and a few feathered friends pecking at your feet are pure bliss... especially if the sound you hear is one of the girls announcing a nice farm fresh egg they have just laid!
One Willow Farm Flew the Coop aka "Cooper"
Eight week old Cooper flew in from North Carolina to be our Livestock Guard Dog. He is a Great Pyrenees from working parents. He is by far a big part of my daily routine, helps with the barn chores and oversees "his" livestock. When he isn't barking at the shifting wind or a leaf floating by, he finds other enjoyable ways to entertain himself by stealing anything and everything including my gloves, watering buckets and shovels! (Hence the reason he is a big part of my daily routine, I stay busy reclaiming my stuff!)
All in all we hope one day he will settle in to become a fine working dog here on our small farm.Guinea Hens
What's a farm without a few guinea hens? They are wonderful for tick control!
BARN CATS
"Friday" "Earl" "Turner" aka "U-Turn"
